Frequently Asked Questions
Text Box: How old do you have to be to join?

Due to shot gun licensing laws we are not able to take anyone under the age of sixteen into the ranks or onto the battlefield. However, in the accompaniment of an adult we do recruit cadets from the age of thirteen.

Do I have to be physically fit?

We’re not looking for body builders or national athletes however we urge you not to apply unless you are of a reasonable state of health and physical fitness, for your own safety. The work we undertake as a light infantry regiment at re-enactments, whether it be on the battlefield or drill ground, involves many physically demanding drill exercises and incredibly knackering battles!

Do you need any licenses or training to be a Rifleman?

You must be able to obtain a Shot Gun Certificate and Black Powder License (acquire only) from your local police force. Also, to be able to take to the field you must have completed a Rifle Proficiency Test and a Battle Proficiency Test for which full training will be given.

Is their a minimum attendance? Do I have to be at every event?

You do not need to attend every event on the calendar. The only obligatory event is one of the major training events at the start of the re-enactment season, usually held in March and April, where training and safety accreditations must be completed before participating in public events. You will be expected to keep your NCOs informed of your intentions with regards to event attendance throughout the year.
