Text Box: either talk to some of these groups prior to settling on this regiment, or have since had a chance to fight alongside these groups.

So why did I settle on this motley crew? Quite simple really, they were very well organised, extremely friendly, and an imposing sight on the battlefield (being one of the largest Rifle re-enactment groups in the UK Napoleonic Association). To steal & adapt some words from Bernard Cornwall, I honestly believe I’m in the best group of re-enactors, in the best re-enactment Regiment and lead by the best officers.

Our Group also offers some other re-enacting opportunities, including the Royal Horse Artillery, the Rocket Troop, and the 1st Royal Dragoons. I can see myself one day riding on horseback with a rocket launcher on my shoulder; that should put the wind-up the French! We also have a lot of projects on the go and in the planning stages, which includes working with the present day Rifle Brigade (former Royal Green Jackets) and other re-enactment groups. The future looks exiting and very GREEN.

So what’s it all about?

Typically we attend living history and battle events at least once a fortnight within the re-enactment season, both in the UK and abroad. Not everyone can attend all the events and there’s no pressure applied.

Seeing a long line of tents laid out, the Union Jack blowing in the wind, and a camp full of soldiers doing camp duties and cleaning their kit and weapons is a sight to behold. We try to do as much drill as possible to ensure our displays look the part and our tactics on the battlefield confound the French. Take it from
